ABOUT
WHO AM I?
Matt is the name, media creation is the game. I’m a creative professional based out of Toronto, Ontario.
For as long as I can remember, I have loved creating art and media. I grew up drawing and painting before I discovered what a camera was.
I started experimenting with stop-motion LEGO animations, which slowly turned into playing around with a video camera with friends. As time progressed, my friends and I started to plan out skits to film as we developed our creative muscles – challenging ourselves to learn new things as we took it more seriously. I didn’t know it at the time, but this would be the spark that would fuel my professional journey.
Throughout High School, I learned & taught myself anything related to media production wherever possible. I did a co-op placement at RogersTV, which would be my first professional camera operating job. It was there when I thought to myself “Oh yeah, this is what I want to do for the rest of my life.” and I haven’t stopped since.
I went to Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly known as Ryerson University) for RTA Media Production where I received a Bachelor of Arts with a concentration in Television & Video, and a Business Essentials Minor. Following that, completed a dual-pathway program at TMU for a Masters of Media Production and a Masters of Business Administration, where I focused on the development of Immersive Media.
WHAT DO I DO?
I do a lot of different things within media, I currently focus on Immersive Media development. Previously, my main two focuses were (are still are) camera operation & sound design.
I also have experience with producing, directing, gaffing/gripping, voice acting/narration, foley, and sound recording. I like to keep it diverse.
I thrive in on-set environments where teamwork is essential, and I value the importance of collaboration in creative scenarios. I bring a positive attitude and passion to all my work, and I always try to have fun while doing it. See my professional work.
Outside of that, I spend a lot of my time doing other fun things too. I take photos, fly drones, draw, and play with synthesizers. I am also a huge 3D Printer enthusiast and do a lot of tinkering with making things for both fun and function. See my personal work.
WHAT DO I PLAN ON DOING?
I want to keep doing what I do now for as long as I can, I just want to keep doing it bigger and better every time.
The end goal is to own & operate my own media production company, where I can not only spend my days turning my own creative visions into reality, but also help turn other people’s ideas into reality too.
